FNP9 Update: “Coolness Confirmed” by Nutnfancy

The FNP9 has proven itself as a superb shooter in our shooting tests. As previously noted in my three-part review series, it possesses outstanding ergonomics, incredible lightweight (24.6 oz!), kindergarten-simple field strip, high accuracy and reliability, adequate firepower (16 rds), Sig-like dedicated decocker (ambi mounted), hammer-forged barrel, good sights, good trigger, bobbed hammer, 1911 grip angle, three included magazines (great job FN!) and all at a very reasonable price. This guns looks were improved by my application of “Tactical DARK Earth” DuraCoat to the frame after careful preparation (all mag baseplates also prepped and coated for a finished look). Also the ambi decocker was milled off for right handed use to produce a slimmer slide profile. These mods, with the SS slide left in black, produce a cool and useful tactical look. In the initial review, all my data points at the time indicated the FNP9 to be an accurate, reliable shooter and indeed it has been. Accuracy out to 15 yds from the handheld standing position showed a tight clustering and I believe on hole groups at yards are easily achieved. Though not tested, 2-3″ groups at 25 yds should also be achievable. The thin barrel has not been proven a detriment and I now feel the slide height is conducive to fast shooting.
