We all at one time or another struggle with our weight. It seems everything we eat is so delicious but too bad that eating it packs on the pounds. Then we have to figure how to lose those extra pounds. It’s not easy changing your habits whether it’s eating a little less, eating better food other than a lot of junk food, or exercising a lot more than usual.

When you start losing the extra pounds you’ll be glad you did something to make you look better, feel better, or get into that outfit you haven’t worn in a while. And WOW! The compliments you’ll get from other people will really help you on the path to weight loss success.

Here are some tips to help you get going.

Eat less but more often. Don’t eat large meals but eat smaller portions throughout the day. In the middle of the afternoon and in the evening if you need to eat, eat a piece of fruit. Eat at certain times of the day. Set a breakfast, lunch, and dinner time and don’t stray from those times.

Give yourself a time limit to eat at least three hours before you go to bed.

Drinking more water fills you up. In fact, drinking a glass of water before your meal will make you feel fuller so you eat less.

Eat slower so you savor every bite. That way your body senses that you’ve eaten and it will switch off the hunger signals.

Order less foods if you’re at a restaurant. Instead of the larger size of meals at fast food restaurants try the smaller size. In fact, only eat fast food meals once a week if you have to. All that food has very little nutritional content but a lot of fat and calories.

Eat better foods. Try to limit your intake of starchy food. Bread, bagels, buns, rice, muffins, pasta, potatoes, and corn all pack on the pounds if you eat a lot. Sugary foods aren’t good for you either so limit pop, donuts, candy, and ice cream.

Try to eat less fats like vegetable oil, butter, mayonnaise, cream cheese, and salad dressing. Eat leaner meets like turkey or roast beef. Eat fish more, like salmon, herring, shrimp or lobster.. Eat more fruits and vegetables. They help you to lose weight and they are anti-aging.

Exercise at least twenty minutes every other day . Even if it’s just walking around the house or down the block in nicer weather. It’s always good to exercise with a friend. Riding an exercise bike helps with weight loss. Listen to some music while you’re riding it and soon you’ll want to ride it at least for twenty minutes.

Always remember how you want to look without all the extra weight. Losing weight could be the healthiest thing you do for yourself.

Sugar has a powerful ability to frustrate dieters. The more sugar you consume, the more insulin your body produces. And the more insulin your body produces, the harder it is to burn fat. And sugar is an insidious creature, because it doesn’t just pop up where you might expect it, like candy and soda. It can also appear in foods with refined carbohydrates, like bread and pasta. So if you get sugar from practically everything you eat, how can you possibly avoid

1. Get More Vinegar When You Can

Some studies have suggested that consuming vinegar actually reduces the amount of glucose you absorb from refined carbohydrates. An acid that appears in vinegar might actually help break down the sugar before it gets to your bloodstream. It can also be a powerful appetite suppressant. So where should get this vinegar from? You can add vinaigrette dressing to your salad. Or you can eat pickles or other pickled vegetables. Or you just ask for vinegar on your sub at the sandwich shop.

2. Eat More Fiber

Fiber has also shown to cut down on the amount of glucose you get from carbs. You probably get the most sugar reducing benefit if you eat soluble fiber, that is, fiber that can form a gel when combined with a liquid. Sources of soluble fiber include carrots, apples, oranges, nuts, and peas. Soluble fiber has a major health benefit as well. It can reduce your bad cholesterol, therefore keeping your arteries free and clear and keep your heart healthy.

3. Weight Train

This one is a must if you expect to lose weight for a number of reasons, one of them being that pumping weights can help you regulate your glucose intake. If you do your resistance training first thing in the morning, how your blood glucose will be affected by the sugary foods you eat will be reduced by up to fifteen percent throughout the day. This is probably because working out takes a lot of energy out of your muscles, and one of those forms of energy comes in the form of stored glucose. So the next time you eat sugar, your muscles absorb it to get their energy back for the next workout. This is one of the many reasons why working out helps your diet and your diet helps you work out.

4. Skip the Fruit Juice

Fruit juice has a misleadingly healthy reputation. Sure, orange juice is loaded with vitamin C, but it also has about as much sugar as a can of soda. It might be a somewhat healthier source of sugar than soda, but it still increases your insulin levels. When putting fruit in your diet, don’t think that juice is a suitable substitute for whole food. You will get far less of the nutrients and fiber if you do so.

Of course, don’t think that just because you follow a few glucose-reducing tips, you can eat as much sugar as you want without being affected. You still have to be sensible. Some of these are simply designed to just reduce the amount of glucose you might absorb through your regular diet, which in the end will help you burn fat even faster.

Women are always conscious about the way they look. In order to keep fit and maintain the ideal body weight you need to check the BMI ratio. Once you know these things it becomes easier for you to calculate the exact amount of extra pounds that you need to lose.

Ideal weight charts for women

You can get this many weight and height chart for women online quite easily. But remember, in some conditions this chart does not apply. These timings include when the woman is pregnant, when you are going through your menstrual cycle, the menopause phase, etc. these charts work on the BMI or the Body Mass Index. Ideally BMI ranges between 19 and 24.9. On an average a woman with a height of 5 feet should weigh 97 to 127 pounds. Now with every one inch you can add 3 pounds to this range.

You must also know the average fat percentage in the body. Bringing that to the ideal value is the best means of maintaining the right figure. EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND - APRIL 23: A man walks p...

Men and Women over 40 wanting to lose weight permanently face the same problem: Fat accumulates very easily and it is harder to lose after 40 as well.

Fat is an important storage medium for energy- and used to be crucial for survival. Through human history, we’ve lasted many shortages and starving periods of time because we could rely on our body fat.

Since our bodies do store fat so easily, it endangers our ability to achieve permanent weight loss. How do fat cells work to make it so challenging for men and women over 40 to lose weight permanently?

If your body takes in more energy as you spend present fat cells fill up. Eating fat, starchy or sugary foods makes no difference – all additional calories are stored as fat. When the fat cells you already hold are full, the body creates new fat cells, a natural process with no restrictions.

Fat cushions increase even more than when you are under stress, but the threat that poses the greatest risk to losing weight over 40 is: Present fat cells are permanent, and won’t be destroyed. You can reduce the amount of fat stored in fat cells, but you cannot reduce the figure of existing fat cells.

A Neuropeptide called Leptin is sent to your brain when fat cells are filled. While the Leptin level in your blood is high, your brain gets the message that you aren’t hungry and don’t need to eat. When your body’s fat cells become empty, the Leptin is gone – and you become hungry.

Now, let’s be totally responsible and unveil a truth: To lose weight permanently over 40, feeling somewhat hungry is something you are going to have to live with. This is an emotional challenge and that’s why I emphasize so much the psychological science behind permanent weight loss- your mind needs ways to cope with that emotional challenge. In order to lose weight permanently, any weight loss program you choose must include moral advice to be effective.

With women, the distribution of fat shifts with age too. For young women, it’s often on the hips and on the tights. Women over 40 will frequently gain fat around the stomach, and visceral belly fat is linked to a number of diseases.

Our bodies are regulated by powerful regulation mechanisms. We tend to have the same weight, even though we do not consume the same number of calories each day. Our bodies then counterbalance for these calories shifts, which leads to another problem for achieving permanent weight loss over 40:

If you are eating too much for a longer period of time, your body adapts to the new weight and will do it’s best to keep it. You will constantly feel the need to “feed” the existing fat cells. The longer you continue on starvation diets, the more overwhelming your hunger pangs can get.

Gaining weight is very easy. Consuming only 100 calories per day surplus of what your body burns will lead to gaining roughly 9 lbs (4.5 kg) per year. And these 100 calories are very easy to acquire. For example, a 12 oz. can of Coca-Cola holds 155 calories, and a Kit Kat Wafer Bar has 218.

To eliminate these 9 lbs you would have to eat nothing for roughly 2 weeks. Or jog 51 hours, or walk 126 hours.
If you want to lose weight permanently after 40, be conscious of the small meals and snacks. These count as well.

Fresh vegetables are common in a healthy diet.

Losing weight can be an emotional roller coaster. Some days you lose weight and some days you don’t, some days you want to eat a box of cookies and other days you are effortlessly following your plan with no obstacles in the way. Looking at the glass half full when it comes to weight loss isn’t always easy and can make losing weight even more difficult.

There are daily obstacles that you will come in contact with that are apart of being alive, and living life. Even when we logically know what we need to do to lose weight, we are faced with events that make managing our weight and where calorie deficits don’t always equal weight loss.

The stress that this causes can be a huge downside to losing weight, especially when we tend to eat more and store more fat when stress is involved. Your body reacts to stress by slowing your metabolism and increasing our cravings for high-fat and sugary foods that make sticking to your healthy eating program even more difficult.

The first thing you can do to manage your stress is to exercise, and secondly you have to change your perspective on weight loss. If your personal weight loss expectations are extremely high you are more likely to fail from stress alone. First, you must believe that you will lose weight. Once you accept that you can accomplish your goals you will believe you can accomplish them and once you believe you will start behaving in ways that make weight loss possible.

If you think like someone who looses weight and reaches goals, you will become that person too. Secondly, it is helpful to not put so much pressure on yourself with the day-to-day ups and downs on the scale. I know how tempting it is, to want to step on the scale every morning to see a weight loss. Weight loss is motivation, but what happens if you work really hard for a few days and you don’t see weight loss, or even worse, the scale goes up?

Will you stop trying to lose weight and call yourself a failure? Will you think weight loss is impossible and all your hard work is for nothing? The truth is, you will not always lose weight even if you are doing the right things. Gaining muscle, hormones, and body fluctuations all play a part in your weight on a daily and weekly basis. Keep this in mind and remind yourself that you will see weight loss only if you stick with your eating and exercise program.

Once you lower your expectations you will discover that being too hard on yourself will only keep you overweight. There may be days where you slip-up and eat too much, or you may even fall into a weight loss plateau, the most important lesson is to keep going, to keep moving forward. If you think that people who have been successful with weight loss got that way because they never slipped up or always had consistent weight losses, you are wrong. Life happens to them too, the only difference is, is that they know how to move forward.
