As you get older you HAVE to eat less and move more in order to counter balance a rapidly declining metabolism. While this may sound simplistic it is very practical for those individuals who are genuinely interested in shedding unwanted pounds. The weight loss industry is filled with thousands of contradictory ideas about healthy weight loss. Here are three simple suggestions that will make it much easier for you to shed the pounds.

Your metabolism establishes the rate at which you will burn calories and, ultimately, how quickly you gain weight or how easily you lose it.
A persons metabolism is usually most influenced by their age (metabolism naturally slows about 5% per decade after age 40).

Most people people who do not succeed at losing weight try to make drastic changes to their lives to fit into some strict diet. We have discovered the hard way that this is a surefire recipe for disappointment. Keep in mind that you didn’t pack on those additional twenty five pounds overnight. If you become aware of the very things that packed on the weight you
will be that much more successful in achieving your weight loss goals.

Diets and Weight Loss systems often have a tendency to gravitate towards drastic solutions. While the drastic solution may offer a semblance of hope, I believe that the simple changes in life are the things that create lasting change. Following these easy changes is a simple way to focus on the long term and not the day to day fluctuation in the battle of the bulge.

1. Drop that cola! A small 12 ounce cola product has a whopping 140 calories and usually about 40 grams of carbohydrates. Lets do the math. If you drink only one can a day, over the course of twelve months that adds up to over 51,000 calories, or
roughly fourteen pounds. If you switch to water, or water with lemon, or natural tea you can accomplish the same snacktime refreshment without any of the additional calories.

While many advertisements suggest switching to sports related drinks like Gator Aid or Vitamin Water we suggest that you read the labels and do the math. If you exercise for less than an hour regular water will be enough to replenish you. The majority of sports drinks have over 110 calories and will undo the gains you are trying to achieve.

2. Get moving! It is not dofficult to increase your metabolism if you simply think about getting yoru body in motion. You don’t have to run a marathon or be at the gym first thing in the morning. You just have to move. Consider walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Walk after meals to increase your circulation. Take a parking space as far away from your destination just to make you walk a little further.

The idea is to focus on taking more steps to get your metabolism burning higher. Our best suggestion for keeping your metabolism burning: build muscle, snack on low-calorie, high-protein foods, and move!
Also Eat small, frequent meals. This suggestion is counter intuitive. The majority of people who are trying to lose weight extend the time between meals. This makes your body go into "starvation mode," which decreases your metabolism as a means to conserve energy and prevent starvation.

3. Hold the Mayo! I used to love mayonaisse and my waitline certainly showed it. One tablespoon of mayonaisse has about 10 grams of fat and about 100 calories. Once again do the math, if you eat a sandwich for lunch only on weekdays that is about 25,000 calories over the period of a year. This equates to roughly seven pounds from one tiny change in habit. Mustard is the healthiest solution for your sandwich; it only 10-20 calories per tablespoon.

Choose one simple habit you wish to eliminate or change and apply it from this list. You’ll see the power of simplicity in action.

Good Luck!

That day is coming, your day, the special day, the day that you will remember for the rest of your life and you plan on looking your very best. On top of all of the stresses of planning, arranging, and budgeting for your day you realize you need to lose weight for the wedding. You know you don’t have time to start an intensive exercise program and you are already too stressed out to try and diet. How can you lose those extra fifteen or twenty pounds so that you fit into your dream wedding dress without having to alter it?

If you need to lose weight for the wedding the first step is to figure out how much time you have to shed those pounds. If you have a month, you have plenty of time. Even if you have two weeks you have plenty of time as long as you understand you are probably going to gain the weight back after the wedding. The basic formula to lose weight is simple- you should not consume more calories than you’re burning. I know, you don’t have time to count your calories right now. So instead of trying to do that, make a few simple changes in the food you’re eating for the next few weeks.

The second step then to lose weight for your wedding is to stop eating fatty foods. No more cupcakes. Don’t sample your wedding cake. Watch what you eat when you go out to dinner. (Think boneless, skinless, baked chicken instead of fried chicken strips). Go to the store and buy a ton of vegetables and cut them up into bite sized pieces. Put those pieces into baggies that you can carry around with you to help you avoid the temptation of stopping at a fast food place or snacking on chips and candy while you’re out and about. Drink more water than you thought you could consume and then double it. The vegetables help with protein and vitamins and the water helps flush out the rest of the stuff your body doesn’t need.

The most important thing to remember in order to lose weight for the wedding is don’t starve yourself. You want to look good and you want to look thin but you don’t want to look sick. Not eating causes your body to eat up muscle instead of fat because of the protein. It also makes you tired all the time and that’s something you can’t afford right now. You can lose weight quickly and safely this way and look great for your wedding.

Additionally, I am sure the groom will appreciate the way you look on the honey moon! Everyone can lose weight, it just requires some hard work and dedication, and that is where most people fail. Get into a routine and once you see a few little results, your motivation will go through the roof. Do not wait another minute and I am sure that your wedding day will be quite memorable.
