Question by ♥♥♥♥: Whats the difference between normal paint thinner and nail polish thinner?
Can I use normal paint thinner to thin my polish instead of purchasing nail polish thinner? Or do people specifically make nail polish thinner because the chemicals arent as harsh or something?

Answer by Sport
There are many kinds of solvents and thinners for paints, lacquers and enamels.
For best results it is wise to use the right one that is specially designed for the particular job.

The ingredients used to formulate nail polish thinners include Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate and Toluene.

You could probably substitute acetone thinners for nail thinner.
Acetone is a colorless and clear liquid that has many uses in products such as nail polish remover, automotive lacquer and inks. Studies have shown that acetone has a relatively low toxicity level

Possibly the same with toluene based thinners.
Toluene is found naturally in crude oil and the tolu tree, toluene is also present in items such as fingernail polish, rubber and adhesives.

Turpentine can irritate the eyes and skin, damage the nervous and respiratory systems, and cause kidney failure.

Mineral Sprits can cause brain damage

Methylene Chloride is one of the oldest and most common solvents.
It is toxic and a suspected carcinogen

Benzene can cause cancer

Don’t throw your old polish away! It’s still got plenty of life left =) But be sure to use polish THINNER – *not* polish REMOVER. Remover is designed to dissolve polish, it breaks it down & may be a temporary solution but isn’t any good in the long run. Thinner actually replaces the part of the polish that has dissolved & restores it =) Polishes shown: Milani Pool Party Maybelline Blue Riders Urban Decay Radium I’m wearing Wet n Wild Gray’s Anatomy: www.youtube.com Tips & Tricks Playlist (taping tutorial, how to clean-up & more): www.youtube.com Water Marble Tutorials Playlist: www.youtube.com Nail Art Tutorials Playlist: www.youtube.com You can check out the My Simple Little Pleasures Facebook page here: www.facebook.com
