We live in a world which is based on celebrity, and we often fall for celebrity weight loss methods. We are obsessed by the way celebrities live and look. We look at them with envy, often wishing that we could be like them.

Beautiful bodies appear on magazine covers and advertisements. We buy these magazines and advertised products, thinking that we may pick up methods to improve our lives. We want to wear what these people wear and we want to look like these people look. Celebrities are big business, and the key term is ‘business’.

Celebrity weight loss for the majority of us is an illusion. Everything is glossed up, but the reality never lives up to the hype that we all too often fall for.

Most celebrities crave two things, which are money and fame, and they will do whatever it takes to get both. The face on a cover with a lovely smile and twinkling eyes isn’t looking at you. It is looking at a camera, it doesn’t know who you are and it doesn’t care.

For many people celebrities have become role models, and when they something we listen. When they say that they have lost weight in a particular way, we follow what they did. Most of the time we don’t get the same results. We don’t think that these celebrities are endorsing or promoting products, or that their lifestyles enable them to to lose weight much easier than the rest of us.

Large companies pay huge sums of cash to celebrities to promote their products? They do so in the hope that the people will buy these products. Because our culture is celebrity driven, we oblige.

In all honesty a lot of the methods celebrities use for losing weight isn’t practical for the rest of us. Sometimes celebrities do one thing and tell us another. Anything to make you buy a product.

These people have other people that do things for them:

They have their kids picked up from school

They have maids that clean their homes

They have people to cook for them

They have well equipped home gyms

They have personal trainers

They can afford to buy the best food

They can afford to buy supplements

They have access to the best private healthcare.

They have money for weight loss surgery.

How much of these benefits do you have? Now do you think that you can lose weight like a celebrity? We need to find ways to lose weight which are going to suit our lifestles and keep away from the mad world of the celebrity.

Losing weight is not a hard concept to accept once we stop looking for a quick or easy fix. Understand that it will take time and understand that as long as you stick to your weight loss plan,it will happen for you.

It’s all about what is going to work for you, not about what is working for someone else. Two people can do exactly the same things trying to lose weight, but each can have very different results.

The bottom line is that you need to burn more calories than you consume. You can consume less calories or you can do more exercise, and there is not much more to weight loss than this.

So in conclusion, will celebrity weight loss work for you? The chances are that it probably will not.

24 Months to a New Body It is safe to say that you will never see a health magazine with this title, and still most transformations take 6, 12 or 24 months (or more!) to achieve. But that doesn’t sell. Media knows that anything else than exceptional, easy results in no more than four weeks will be rejected, and then they’d be out of business. It’s not their fault, not really; it’s just supply and demand. If we demanded better quality articles regarding fitness training and eating, they would give it to us, but we don’t. This charade means that most people begin their journey with false information, assuming that they’ll lose insane amounts in a very short time, and when they don’t, they get discouraged and may not try again for another year. This doesn’t mean that you can’t achieve great results in four weeks, you absolutely can! But if you have outrageous expectations brought on by the latest fad, you are setting yourself up for failure (and that’s often for the long-term too). So, realise it will take time, BUT you CAN get there! And as long as you stay on track, those results will keep on coming, making you feel better and better about yourself every day.

Change is Hard (and your body fights it) Anyone claiming change to be easy is dead wrong. It is not. Believing all the hype and assuming it will be and you’re in for a nasty surprise. Look, it is light-years away from being impossible, but if changing behaviours, habits and lifestyles were easy, I mean really easy, just about everyone would. And physiologically, your body will actually fight it. It loves to stay the same and any change will be resisted until your persist enough. That is why start-stop attempts rarely generate short or long-term results. The inconsistencies lead your body to doubt your intentions and it just sits where it’s comfortable. I can illustrate this easily by comparing the 30 second stretches you do after your workouts with having your arm in a sling for six weeks. Six weeks down the track with a little bit of stretching here and there will do little for your flexibility, but keep that arm in the same position for six weeks straight and your body will shorten up your muscles, as it assumes that is what you want. So, either you do or you don’t, anything in between and you might as well do nothing.

No Attempt is Better than a Weak Decision Research tells us that most weight loss attempts (especially the extreme ones) will result in gaining back the lost weight PLUS an additional 15% over the long-term. Not only that, if the weight loss was done in a poor fashion, there is likely to be severe muscle loss involved as well. And when you gain that weight back, it will be little if any muscle. This is terrible as muscle mass increases the energy our body requires at rest and at activities and therefore helps us to maintain our weight. Without it, keeping the weight off is even harder. So, stay away from weak “maybe sorta’ kinda’” attempts and make a firm decision to change. If you don’t, you are probably better off not doing anything at all. I would pick standing still over two steps forward, three steps back. But trumping all of that is making your mind up and do it already! You will be so happy you did.

You’ve heard it all before, “Exercising is the best way to lose weight!”. It’s bull. You know it’s bull because you watch your calories, you exercise all day long, and you’re only losing a couple pounds a month if anything at all. Ok then… why all the exercise hype for fast weight loss?

I mean, we all know exercise is important to us; especially walking. Hell, walking at only 40 minutes per day lowers your blood pressure. It doesn’t even have to be in 40 minute intervals! It can be 10 minute intervals. Walking rejuvenates the body and helps your heart work more efficiently.

But what about for weight loss? Everybody I know asks me what exercises I did to lose 180 pounds and they never believe me. It’s not occurring to folks until now that what you eat and how you eat is the more important than running 3 miles a day. Let me explain.

The single best and fastest way to lose weight is through eating healthy meals and tricking your metabolism. Alternating calories and your macro-nutrients (protein, carbs, etc) and simply walking when you can is much more easier, faster, and smarter than trying to run the Olympics every single day. This is exactly how I lost 180 pounds.

When you alternate like this, you increase your metabolism which in turn increases the amount of calories you burn naturally (commonly known as your RMR or resting metabolic rate – you know the calories you burn by sleeping or sitting, etc) which decreases the amount of exercise you need by a lot.
