Giving birth is a magnificent thing that you will forever cherish. While it is more than worth it in the end, the one thing women do not look forward to following giving birth is their pregnancy weight. However, this is not something you have to be stuck with the rest of your life. Here are some of the top and easy ways for how to lose pregnancy weight.

The first thing you will want to do is increase your water intake significantly. Technically, people are supposed to be drinking 8 glasses of water a day. Following pregnancy you want to step this number up to 10 to 12 glasses of water per day. Instead of drinking sodas and beverages that are high in sugar, you can cut hundreds of calories a day by sticking to water.

You have probably heard you are best off eating several small meals or snacks a day as opposed to eating two or three large meals. This is where it becomes imperative you keep healthy snacks close by at all times. Stay away from the bag of chips and cookies and stick to raisins, wheat crackers, and nuts.

As for your meals themselves, try your hardest to completely eliminate fast food from your diet. Stick to lean meats such as boneless chicken and lean cuts of beef. In addition, eat plenty of whole grain foods like bread, pasta and cereal.

The second part of how to lose pregnancy weight is exercising. Being that you just had a baby, you want to begin exercising when you feel the time is right. Certainly do not rush into anything just so you can drop the baby weight.

As soon as you feel ready make sure to start light. You can begin by taking 10 minute walks every day with a pram and build up to 20 minutes per day. If you can find a friend to walk with, this can make it less of a hassle and more of a way to get out and enjoy yourself while exercising at the same time.

Try to do small things that can increase your exercise as well such as parking further away or using the stairs as opposed to elevators and escalators. The more exercise you get the better off you will be. When first starting out, all you will be able to do is walk around and that’s okay.

Over time you will be able to work your way up to jogging or lightly running on the treadmill. This is when you will want to consider joining a gym as you can take advantage of weights as well to tone your muscles. If you begin walking consistently, working your way up to the gym will be nothing.

The last tip for how to lose pregnancy weight is to breastfeed. Breastfeeding uses up fat stores and can actually burn as much as 500 calories per day. The more you breastfeed the more calories you drop.
