One of the most effective and natural way of detoxification is water fasting. In fact, it has been a popular and powerful health recovery treatment since ancient times. It is a procedure wherein the body is allowed to heal by itself. With the absence of food, the body is left to exhaust all of its natural resources in order to harvest sufficient fuel for its functioning. Consequently, it tends to consume everything that it can, even those that are not essential to its functioning including wastes produced by the blood, bacteria, viruses, stored fats, and fibroid tumors. In short, through fasting the body naturally cleanses the body of accumulated toxins and as a result heals itself.
The period of fasting depends on the person. It may take several days, several weeks, up to a month or even more than a month. It basically depends on the person’s health condition and what he intends to achieve. The primary beneficial effect of water fasting is detoxification, and second is weight loss.
Many of the most notable physiological changes in the body during fasting take place during the first three days. Generally, the body’s main source of energy comes from glucose, a type of sugar harvested from the food we eat. The liver is capable of storing excess sugar or glycogen. Normally, the stored glycogen is enough to fuel the body for half a day. But while fasting, the stored glycogen is exhausted within the first 24 hours.
At that point, since glucose is no longer sufficient, the body improvises. The body starts to undergo ketone production or use fatty acids for fuel. This shift usually starts on the second day as the body begins to convert glycerol and amino acids into glucose. However, the body’s protein must be tightly conserved in order to protect muscle tissue and vital organs from being damaged during times when not enough food is taken in by the body. Thus for the rest of the period of water fasting, the body uses fatty tissues for energy due to protein sparing.
And since the body is solely taking in water during fasting, the bowel is also given a good cleansing. Moreover, the digestive system is given ample time to recuperate, strengthening the mucosal lining of the intestines, keeping toxins from entering the bloodstream.
So for the entire fasting process, not only do the organs of the body undergo repair and strengthening, the body is also undergoes detoxifications and weight loss. However, it must be noted that water fasting is not a cure all treatment and must be performed with precaution. Distilled water is most advised for cleansing due to the water’s natural magnetic properties and ability to absorb more toxins to be flushed out of the body. Spring and filtered water are also good to use.
Virtually any one person can fast. However, exceptions are those people with inherent metabolic disorder as well as those having a rare genetic disease characterized by the lack of essential enzyme needed to process fatty acids. Also, people who are malnourished and in a state of starvation are excluded from this treatment for it will not give the desired healthful effects. People who are suffering from anorexia, bulimia, severe anemia, or diabetes are also not advised to fast. Furthermore, pregnant

Whether we admit it to ourselves or not, the truth is already staring us hard in our faces. The concepts on weight loss are indeed becoming more complex. Of all these, though, one concept that really seems to stand out is the concept on GI or the Glycemic Index.
What is this Glycemic Index and how does it affect weight loss and for that matter, weight gain?
The Glycemix Index is the rate by which the foods that we consume can be broken down into glucose. Actually, the process of digestion and metabolism is that all the foods that we consume will be broken down into glucose, but through consuming the foods that have low Glycemix Index, the broken down foods can have less effect on the rise of an individual’s blood sugar level. Consequently, this means that the person who follows the low Glycemix Index would also have more chances of managing his or her weight.
Once we really look deep into the issue of weight loss and dieting, we will see that foods are seen as part and parcel of the things that comprise our overall health. And if anything, this is not an exaggeration. In lieu of the effect and impact of over consumption of foods, we should thus start exercising portion control. Lack of discipline in terms of portion control is a big problem as it is more than anything else; another thing that is equally important is the food selection that we limit ourselves to.
Obviously, Americans men and women love eating foods that are laden with fats, sugar, and carbohydrates. We all know that these types of foods are exactly those that can hamper the health of the individual and as such, making a lifestyle change is necessary in order to manage weight and to become healthy.
Switching from the lifestyle that we are used to into something that is more filled with dieting restrictions may not be a welcoming change, but in the end, this will really do us good. But then again, what does staying healthy mean and what can we benefit from if we stick to a healthy lifestyle?
Staying healthy means that we have to live a lifestyle that is devoid of vices; common vices include smoking and drinking, but for some people eating has also become a vice. Eating too much can now be considered as food addiction and this condition is not a good thong to boot. Overeating may lead to serious health complications and as such, those people who are beginning to have the irresistible urge to eat should think twice before going into an unhealthy diet plan.
So what to do in order to boost weight loss? Opt for the healthy lifestyle and start a new diet and exercise regimen today!

You hear about them all the time. Low carb diets this, low carb diets that. Every celebrity is on this diet and everyone you know at work, at school or anywhere is on this diet. Well, if that’s all they’re using, they’ve been on it for a while and they’re completely healthy, then they must not be following it completely or they’re lying!
Why? Because low carb diets, for a short period of time do work to help you lose weight, but only for a short period of time, like 2-3 weeks. But if you stick with low carb diets for a longer period of time, you’ll definitely be losing something other than weight and you’ll see negative side effects with your health.
Don’t get me wrong. There are plenty of foods out there that you should avoid, and most of them are very high in carbs. And these foods are great to avoid for just general health, not only just to lose weight.
But the other side of that coin is that carbohydrates are also a very necessary nutrient for your body to function properly. So a long term weight loss diet completely devoid of carbohydrates is not a good idea. A short one is fine since it’s pretty much like fasting for a few weeks, which won’t do much damage.
Here’s another fact that will show you how bad long term low carb diets are, outside of weight loss. There is a risk of osteoporosis for women from long term low carb diet use. Most low carb diets will tell you to increase the amounts of protein you eat.
Normally, that’s a great thing because one of the building blocks of your body is protein. But, like anything else, too much protein spells disaster. Excess protein from meat can leech calcium from your bones, which can increase the risk of osteoporosis. Why does your body do this? Because protein can cause acid build up in your blood and your body removes the calcium to balance out your blood.
Okay, so you say that’s a woman’s problem. Here’s one for both. Your brain uses about 20% of glucose from your body. Now, glucose is a simple sugar. Simple sugars are carbohydrates.
Get the connection? If you decrease the intake of carbohydrates from your diet, you are starving your brain of an important nutrient for healthy brain function. That’s definitely not something anyone wants, whether you’re trying to lose weight or not.
But specifically with weight loss, low carb diets stop working if you use them over a long period of time because at that point you won’t be losing weight or fat. At that point, you’ve already lost most, if not all, of the fat stores in your body. The reason low carb diets work so great in the beginning is because your body is using up the fat stores in your body since you aren’t eating carbs, which provide energy to your body.
So naturally, your body uses up your fat stores. But once those are gone, your body turns to muscles and body tissue. So clearly, you are not losing fat at that point, which is what you would want. You’ll be losing the parts of you that are helpful to real weight loss. Carbs are sources of energy for your body so after the initial 2-3 weeks of the low carb diet, re-introduce healthy carbs to your body and you will be in good shape and on the path to healthy weight loss.

There are so many diets out there at present which help you lose fats including the south Beach Diet and cookie diets. This article is going to perhaps shock you if you are used to diets as it will go against all that you know about dieting.
This is not to say that these other diets don’t work or that they are no good, each one has its merits and advantages and if your lifestyle fits into them they are more likely to be for you.
O.k lets get the controversy over with then…
I want to suggest to you that you increase your meals from the average 2-3 per day up to 5-6 meals per day. This will help you to lose fats by increasing the bodies metabolism rate. You see there is some talk out there that by increasing the number of meals eaten in a day you will increase your metabolism because the body will increase its energy consumption because of the need to absorb and digest the extra food. This increases the energy levels of the body leading to loss of fats from the body.
That is the theory anyway…
In order to complement this extra intake of food you have to make sure that you increase your intake of proteins and carbohydrates. Before you shudder at this the proteins are needed because of their high levels of “thermogenesis” which in layman’s terms is the energy which is used by the body to digest the nutrients and to burn fats off. In reality this means the more protein you consume the more energy your body uses. For carbohydrates though you must look at foods with low G.I or Glycemic index. The reason for this is that the G.I. Is the rate at which the body converts the carbohydrates into glucose and if you have a low G.I. Then less of the carbohydrates will be converted into glucose and less will enter the bloodstream.
Carbohydrates are also responsible for triggering the secretion of insulin within the body and as the insulin is responsible for the progress of fat tissues within the body having a low G.I. Index actually lowers the insulin rate in the body and therefore lower fatty tissue production.
These are just a couple of issues that can help you with your diet and to help you lose fats but there are many more that will also help too.
The main thing here is that you stick to your diet and keep your resilience up to continue to follow the program you are on in order to help you lose fats from your body.
