For a weight loss program to be effective, it has to give you a way to reduce calories, or to burn more calories. This can be done by having a healthy diet, while adding an exercise program. Most people like to eat more than they like to exercise, and that is why it is so hard for them to lose weight.

There are too many foods that taste good, but cause weight gain. Have you ever noticed that the more you eat certain foods, the more you want them. Losing weight would be easy if the was an easy way of breaking the cycle. Once you start eating the right foods, your body will start craving them. For example, eating sugar causes your body to crave sugar. Your body will crave whatever you choose to drink.

Once you begin eating good foods, your body will not want to be without them. The same is true for exercise. You do not want to be a fanatic for exercise like some people, but once you get started with some type of exercise program, your body will miss it, when you do not do it.

That is why you want to start exercising every day, even if it is just some stretching exercises, or a short walk. Your body will feel better once you start an exercise program. You will feel better, your mind will be clearer, you will have more energy, and you will start losing weight.

As long as you have a goal and keep yourself motivated, you can do almost anything. Your body will respond to your attitude. If you have positive thoughts towards losing weight and being healthier, then you will win the battle. If you have a defeatist attitude, then you will probably give up when things get too tough.

If you are serious about your life, then you will be willing to make the necessary changes. Feeling good is a lifestyle change that starts with your mental attitude.

There was a time when it was normal for children to spend part of their day outside playing. But now with so many mothers working, and the fear of children being outside alone, along with TV and computer games, a lot of children never leave the house.

Our children are growing up without being very physical fit. With that type of upbringing, it might be difficult changing your attitudes toward healthy weight loss programs. If you have never really exercised, then you have never known the exhilerating feeling you get from exercise.

Your whole life can be changed by finding an exercise program that you like. Start slowly when you start exercising. Try to do something every day, and slowly increase what you do. Experiment with different exercises, so you can find the ones that fit you. You may have heard ‘no pain, no gain’ but in order to keep your exercise program going without quitting, you need to find one that you enjoy.

Walking is one form of exercise that you should always do. Exercise can be hard, but you can choose to enjoy it, and no matter what you do, remember to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. This should be a total lifestyle change to give you a new healthy life.

I have found that, most weight loss related problems boil down to one source: FOOD.

If you are not making progress, and your weight loss efforts have stalled, first, ensure that your weight training and aerobic exercises are being performed properly and consistently; then analyze your food intake.

Food is the biggest hurdle that most of us contend with in terms of getting into top shape. The reasons are many and complex.

Thus, if you are not achieving results, the first thing to do is to check your food intake. Are you eating the right amounts of the right foods at the right times? If you find that you are doing everything else right, and are still not making progress, the way to get back on the path to progress is to carefully analyze the type and amount of food you have been eating. Most likely, the problem is one of excess calories. Even if you are eating the best foods for your body, taking in more calories than you need causes you to accumulate fat.

If you find that you are eating properly, then check to see how well you are adhering to the exercise guidelines for your workout regimen. If you find you are not on track, adjust accordingly and continue on.
It is a physiological fact that, in order to lose fat, you must take in less calories than you use on a daily basis over a consistently long period of time. This is the only sure-fire way to guarantee steady and continual progress. But how do you go about analyzing if you are eating the correct number of calories for yourself?

Several things come into play…Planning is paramount of course. So you must plan your diet for each and every day. If you don’t there is a greater chance you will eat something not on your list of permitted foods to eat for the day. When you have a plan you are more likely to stick with it than a haphazard "I’ll just try and eat good today."

Along with this planning goes tracking. You must be able to know precisely how many calories you are putting into your body each and every day, and each and every meal. This sounds tedious I know, but it is essential to your success. You must make sure you keep on the course to maximum fat loss and lean muscle gain.

In almost every single instance where someone complained to me of their lack of progress I was able to trace it down to the simple fact they were taking in too many calories for the amount of energy they were using.

Here’s an example for those that have had a hard time losing fat to see that everyone truly can lose their body fat. Although this is an extreme example I use it to make a point.

Let’s say I were to take a man (or woman) who had the hardest time in the world losing fat (or weight) and suddenly and quickly took away ALL access to any food at all (but kept water intake plentiful) what do you think would happen? Would this person lose fat and weight? How long do you think without ANY access to food would it take for this person to drop body fat?

You and I both know that this person would lose body weight very rapidly. In fact they would eventually die due to the lack of food. What would this person’s body look like then? Probably very skinny with little fat on his/her body. The point I’m trying to make here is that there is a caloric level for everyone that if calories are lowered beneath, fat loss will start to occur. It’s inevitable and a physiological certainty.

Now of course I don’t advocate going without any type of food, as this is unhealthy and dangerous. However, how can you use the information from this example to help you achieve consistent and predictable fat loss?
You’ll be able to lose fat easily and consistently By PRECISELY controlling the calories going into your body EVERY SINGLE DAY and keeping those calories slightly less than you need to maintain your current body weight. There really is no magic here.

Now, you have to weigh every single solitary morsel that passes between your lips. You have to become religious about this. Over a 2-week time period you will have a really good estimate of how many calories your body needs to maintain itself. This is an important part of your success because we all tend to over-estimate our portion sizes. Failing to weigh your food will be an almost guaranteed ticket to failure. Yes, it’s a pain in the rear, but you’ll only have to do it for 12 weeks. Look at it as a small price to pay for the body you’ve always wanted.

At the end of 12 weeks you’ll have become so good at knowing what the correct portion sizes are for you that you’ll be able to estimate your portion sizes visually. This will help you maintain your weight loss and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Want to be forever young? The most important thing you must take care of is your body weight. And to have a control over your weight you need to burn your calories rapidly and enhance the metabolic rate of the body. Once your metabolism is geared the extra pounds will automatically drop down.

Most of us consider weight control to be diet control. But for your kind information you are partially correct if you think so. Diet is definitely a major concern to regulate your weight. But if you keep yourself starving for the sake of loosing pounds you ultimately become a patient of low pressure and malnutrition. Controlling your metabolic rate through a balanced diet and activities like exercises and gym are effective means to keep yourself fit and healthy.

Regular regimen to boost metabolism

A diet with low calories must include fiber-rich food and necessary proteins. The amount of carbohydrates and fats has to be minimized. How can you shape such a diet? Take a look.

You can relish on green salad with enough of broccoli, cabbage and carrots. This will also fulfill the mineral requirement of your body. Have oatmeal an egg daily but avoid the yolk. The white portion is almost fatless but will provide your body with the necessary amount of protein. Avoid the animal butter but you can always have the natural peanut butter.

Try to use sugar free in your tea and coffee. Fruit is healthy but excess amount of fruit juice is not recommended when you really intent to put off your pounds. Fibrous fruits are most welcomed.

Pay attention to eating pattern

Eat less but for more times. This helps to keep the metabolic factor steady. If you remain without food for the whole day and the end of the day you just grab on anything you come across and think that you are on diet; you are actually befooling yourself.

Pay more attention to the routine of diet you follow rather than the diet chart. Have small amount of food from time to time. At an interval of two to three hours each and every individual must eat something. You must not confuse that you are being asked to have meals every time.

What are the benefits if you can make it a habit? This actually doesn’t allow you to crave for hunger. Again it keeps your metabolism steady and the chances of fat deposition in the tissues are bare minimum.

Thus don’t just concentrate on your diet but also give equal focus on your dieting schedule. Is it okay?

What vegetarian diet are you eating for weight loss? If you’re not getting amazing results from that, then you should take note of what I’m going to show you. Not all vegetarian diet will help you lose weight effectively. The diet needs to carry all sorts of essential nutrients as well as the special weight loss ingredients to serve the purpose. In short, an effective vegetarian weight loss diet should achieve these 5 things for you:

1. Give you all essential nutrients your body needs to perform its daily tasks and functions. Our body is made up of trillions of cells. If you don’t give what they need, they’ll not perform at full tank. They control everything in our body, including metabolism that controls and manages your weight.

2. Make you feel full easily. A successful vegetarian weight loss diet should fill you up easily with its fiber-rich ingredients and foods, so you’ll lose all the cravings for sugar and other high-calorie processed vegetarian foods that make you fat.

3. Make you feel full longer. Again, it’s the fiber at work. Fiber is hard to digest and hence able to help you stay satisfied over longer hours.

4. Help you burn more calories than the calorie content of the food itself. This requires your food to contain both complex-carb and fiber to get the effect. Complex-carb takes longer to break down than simple-carb food, and fiber helps to slow down the digestion even more. Hence, your vegetarian weight loss foods in your diet plan should bear these 2 vital components.

5. Help you remove waste EVERY DAY. Whenever I get bogged down with work and try to eat as conveniently as I could without due consideration for the quality of food, I’ll have a hard time clearing my waste and having my lower tummy sticking out unsightly. Instead of every day, sometimes it took 2 – 3 days to detox. Learning that, I started to choose my vegetarian diet very carefully even during my busy period. And my bowel moves 1 – 2 times daily and flattens my tummy every day. It’s the fiber at work again.

In a nutshell, your vegetarian weight loss diet should contain 30 – 35 grams of fiber daily from various ingredients - not just sticking to a small group of food. This way you’ll also absorb many other important vitamins and minerals your body needs for proper bodily and metabolic functioning. Oh, don’t forget to drink enough water to soften your stool and let it pass out smoothly.

Green tea leaves steeping in an uncovered zhon...
Image via Wikipedia

Green Tea is all the rage at present and it’s popularity is likely to increase in the next few years. So why has it become so popular with people who are trying to lose weight naturally? Well, let’s take a look and see why!

Years, and I mean years, of research proves that people who drink Green Tea are more likely to shed weight faster than those people who do not drink it. However, it is not only good for helping you get rid of fat as it has many other health benefits, so even if you do not need to lose pounds, you should be drinking it now!

So, here are 3 ways in which Green Tea will actually help you to lose weight. It has many more benefits as I mentioned, but for the sake of this article, I will stick with weight loss ok?

Firstly, it is a great appetite suppressant. The major problem for most people is feeling hungry when on a diet. Green Tea will help to stop those hunger pangs and prevent you from bingeing out on foods and throw you back to where you started. Studies prove that Green Tea is a great natural suppressant so drink while trying to get rid of fat.

It also gives you natural energy. Having more energy is important when trying to lose weight. you need to exercise more to shed those pounds and Green Tea can help to give you that extra boost you need to keep going. Drinking it on a regular basis will give you more energy overall.

It will help to stimulate your metabolism. It is of course your metabolism that burns calories and turns them into energy. Green Tea is a natural stimulate which means that by drinking it you will naturally burn more calories each day. The quicker you burn calories, the quicker you get rid of that fat.

Please be aware though that some brands of Tea actually contain caffeine, so if you cannot drink caffeine, you should be able to find a decaffeinated version on the supermarket shelf.

Another great benefit of drinking tea is the antioxidants that will help to rid your body of free radicals. Green Tea is full of antioxidants and it really is good for you.

So remember that if you want to burn fat fast, lose weight and stay healthy all at the same time, then you simply need to add Green Tea to your diet and drink it on a regular basis.

If you are wondering “How many calories should I eat to lose weight?”, the first thing you must get clear on is how many calories your body needs to sustain your current weight. It is surprising that most people do not have a faint idea how much they can eat without putting on pounds. And secondly, you obviously need to know how many calories you are consuming in average at the moment, and here again most people do not have a clue about their calorie intake.

So, let us start to bring some clarity to your question “How many calories should I eat to lose weight?”!

calories needed for maintenance= your basal metabolic rate (BMR) x your activity level

Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the amount of calories that your body needs to survive without any activity. Say, if you are lying in hospital with a coma, your daily calorie consumption would very much equal your basal metabolic rate.

Your BMR depends on several factors like

  • your current weight – the good news is that for every pound that you are currently weighting, you also need to eat calories just to keep that weight
  • your height – it obviously makes a difference if your weight is spread over 1,60 m or 2 m, meaning even if Tom Cruise and Michael Jordan had the same weight, their BMR would be different
  • your gender – men have a higher percentage of muscles, which means that they burn more calories per pound of body weight. Unfair, I know, but nothing we can do about it.
  • your age – your metabolism slows down the older you get! Take advantage of that and start your life changing diet now, because next year it is getting even harder!

Your activity level is rated raging between 1.2 (sedentary) and 1.9 (highly active, excessive exercise or hard manual labor) and factored into the equation.

Example: Let’s say you are a 25 years old female with a height of 165 cm/ 5’5” and a current weight of 65 kilos/ 130 pounds. Your activity level is lightly active (1-3x sports per week) and now you start asking “How many calories should I eat to lose weight?”

Your BMR is then about 1,400 calories x 1.375 for your activity level = 1,925 calories

Now, that you know how many calories you can eat per day for maintenance, it is getting easy. For every pound of weight that you want to lose, you theoretically have to cut 3,500 calories. That means for a weight loss of one pound per week, you need to eat 500 calories less then your maintenance per day. In the above case your daily calorie consumption will be limited to 1,425 calories.

How many calories should I eat to lose weight?

You see, with the proper calculations, there is no need to starve yourself on a 1,000 calorie diet. Now you only need to keep track on your calorie intake to ensure that you will stick to your limit!

Your action plan:

  • start to evaluate how many calories you personally need for maintenance using this “How many calories to lose weight calculator
  • get an idea how many calories you are currently consuming in average (at least roughly)
  • adjust your calorie intake accordingly!

Not being able to maintain your weight loss can be extremely frustrating as well as unhealthy. I discovered that the secret is to get control of my appetite. Once you get over your cravings for sweets and other food that packs on the pounds, you’re on your way.

1. Do you need motivation to lose weight? If losing weight is important enough, make a commitment to do so. Are you just interested in losing a few pounds for some special event? Are you trying to lose weight after child birth? Are you just tired of feeling sluggish and having your clothes fit too tight? What ever the reason, make a commitment and get started with a plan.

2. Once you have decided on your why for weight loss, set an objective. For example, if you want to lose 30 pounds in 4 months. That means you have to lose about 2 pounds per week to meet your goal. Now determine how you will do it. You have to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound. Losing 2 pounds per week means learning how to eliminate and/or burn 7000 calories per week. So if you cut your calorie intake by 3500 calories per week and exercise enough to burn an additional 3500 calories per week, you’ll meet your goal.

There are tools on the internet to help you figure out what your goal should be. The Mayo Clinic Calorie Counter is an easy resource to keep track of your calorie needs. You can go to the website here, http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/calorie-calculator/NU00598

3. You need to learn portion size. Restaurants in the U.S. typically give you 3 or 4 servings on your order. A good rule of thumb is that a serving size for fruits or vegetables is about the size of your fist. For pasta a serving size is about the size of a scoop of ice cream. Go to http://www.webmd.com/diet/control-portion-size to get a complete breakdown. You don’t have to weigh your food, but you do have to be aware of portion size.

4. Don’t skip meals. That’s one of the biggest diet busters for many people. skipping meals will cause you to overeat at some point. It’s best to eat 5 or 6 small meals each day to avoid getting overly hungry.

5. Once you learn to control your appetite without effort you’ll be on your way to success. This was a big one for me because I was such a sweet eater. My kids used to call me the cookie monster. I never met a cookie I didn’t like.Throw in a little ice cream and I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. Until I got control of my cravings and poor eating habits, I was not going to succeed. I had lost and gained 25 pounds so many times you could build 2 or 3 people out of that weight.Several years ago I learned self hypnosis to quit smoking. I was stunned at how easy it was to control my appetite.

It suddenly occurred to me that I could do the same thing with my appetite and cravings. Guess what? I had another amazing success. Why didn’t I try this years before? If you have never looked into self-hypnosis, you should. It’s nothing like you may think. It’s simply a method of relaxing and visualizing yourself the way you want to be.It provides effortless appetite control so you don’t have to struggle with will power to avoid the cookie jar.

6. Get off the couch and exercise. You do have to get off your butt to lose weight. You don’t have to be a triathlete to lose weight and be thin and fit, but you do need to get moving. Find something you like, not something you dread. If you don’t really get a buzz out of jogging, don’t do it. There are any number of things you can do to exercise. There’s power walking, bike riding, swimming, playing tennis, etc. Find something you enjoy and mix it up. You may want to get a Bodybugg and keep track of the calories you burn off with different exercises. Keep track of your calories on their website. Bodybugg allows you to track your progress free for 6 months on their website.

7. The last and perhaps the most important tip of all is to enjoy your life. Learning effortless appetite control with self-hypnosis will bring additional benefits like reducing the stress in your life by learning to relax. Find things that make you happy and do them often. Do not allow stress to contol your life. Stress is a big factor in causing people to overeat. Make a pledge to live a stress free life.

I hope you’ve found these 7 Best Weight Loss Tips helpful. It is my sincere desire to offer tips and tools and tips that I learned the hard way in the hope that it will help you.

The big secret to weight loss is controlling your appetite. Here’s the real secret, it isn’t about controlling your hunger. Hunger and appetite are two different things. To learn more=>http://www.staythinandfit.com
